what should I use to cover my AC window unit?

I’m redecorating our guest room into a nursery. We plan on installing an ac unit in the window. My mom is making the window treatments, which includes a fabric cornice on top, a swoop valance for the middle and two long panels to go on the sides. I’m looking for a decorative way (not plain standard blinds), to cover the ac unit when its not in use. I was thinking shutters? But I’m not sure how that would fit.
What other options are there? Ideally, I’d love to cover all the window except for where the unit is. (The window is a double wide window, it’s wide rather than long. So the unit will be on the right side, and the rest of the window on the left can be covered from top to bottom without disturbing the unit.)

I like you shutter idea. The a/c unit will stick out a little but when you hang the shutter just mount it on a board the thickness the unit sticks out. The only other thing I could think of is a cork board. You could hang baby pics on it and just set it down when the a/c is running. This could be mounted with hooks and decorative chain to the frame of the window. I am sure you will figure it out before the big day. Good luck…
